The Origin

of Alive Flowers

In 2021, Andreea Mirabela Stör came to Sicily alone — anxious but curious.
She craved to feel alive again.

Surrounded by endemic wildflowers under the shadow of Mount Etna and the endless expanse of the Mediterranean Sea, this land opened everything to her. The way people connect to the volcano, to the food, to the sea, to the traditions, to each other. She fell in love with life again. It made her present. It made her observe. It made her connect the dots.

Everything here is woven together.
Nothing is separate.

The flowers became the way she poured that truth into the world.

For over a decade before Sicily, Andreea had been translating botanicals into luxury floral environments — pioneering the profession of floral design in Romania, training its first generation of educators and practitioners, establishing the academic and professional foundations of the discipline, and creating international events. Fifteen years of mastery. And yet something was calling her beyond it.

When the moment came to create — an international festival, a deadline — she wanted to create something that carried everything she was sensing- what no one ever seen before.

So they started experimenting — a small group of Romanian florists who believed in the project from the very beginning.

Flowers at night. Playing with light.

Using UV light — the same spectrum bees and butterflies perceive — invisible patterns on petals suddenly emerged. Nectar guides. Pollination maps written in scent. A language that had existed for millions of years, co-created between flowers and their pollinators, completely hidden from human eyes.

What Sicily was teaching her every day — that nothing is separate, that everything connects to everything — she was now finding that same truth inside the flowers themselves.

In 2021, Alive Flowers was presented for the first time at the International Flower Festival Fleur Amour in Belgium. What began as an experiment became a journey.

And that is when everything changed.

The deeper question continued to emerge:
Are flowers just decoration?
Are we just separate observers, admiring them from a distance?

Every fruit, every seed, every drop of honey or olive oil, every glass of wine exists because flowers are co-creators of life — partnering with pollinators, with soil, with sun, with the entire living system to produce the nourishment that sustains us.

When we eat honey, fruit, wine, seeds, or oils — the minerals from Etna’s volcanic soil, absorbed by flowers and transformed through their union with pollinators, enter the human body and become human cells, human tissue, human structure. We become co-creators too. We join the cycle. We become the soil.
We become the flowers.
We become nature.

From 2023 to 2024, the methodology deepened. Multisensory design — already at the core of Andreea’s work since 2016 — now revealed its deeper meaning. It was never just a design choice.
It was nature’s own language. Scent became architecture. Sound aligned with biological rhythm. Light, shadow, and ritual converged into experiences where all five senses participated — five senses participated as a living dialogue that nature had been conducting for millions of years.
Andreea was finally listening.

In 2025, the first Alive Flowers TV documentary episode began production. And during the creative process, the structure finally revealed itself: this was not simply floral innovation. This was the foundation of something new.

Science had documented pollination. Biologists understood the process.
No one had created a fully immersive human experience that answers the deepest question through the body itself:

Are we separate from nature —
or are we nature becoming itself?

Alive Flowers is that answer, made tangible.

Living Intelligence Design is the discipline born from it — founded by Andreea Mirabela Stör as a new way of designing multisensory experiences through which humans perceive, enter into relationship with, and co-create alongside the intelligence of living systems. Design here is not the goal. It is the bridge. The goal is to make the hidden intelligence of nature tangible, experiential, and felt.

Alive Flowers is its flagship expression.

We are not separate from flowers. We are flowers.
We are nature.
